For converged communicators who also use Twitter and want to integrate their Tweets with their blog posts, there’s a solution that’s pretty simple and takes just a couple of minutes. Once you’re done, you’ll have something that looks like this:Tweets by @CFreemanJAX
Think it’s pretty cool? If you do, try these tips.
First, start up your Twitter account and select Settings (the gear icon at the top of the screen) and then choose Widgets. Just a couple of mouse clicks will enable you to select your settings and create a Twitter widget. Take note of the very long number that appears in the URL at the top of the screen. You’ll need that when it’s time to include your Tweets in your blog post.
The string of text that you type to insert the Tweets into your blog post looks pretty technical, but the only things that you really have to keep in mind are your Twitter handle and that long number described earlier. An example:Tweets by @YOURTWITTERHANDLE
More detailed instructions, plus some handy-dandy screen shots, are available through WordPress support at http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/.
Now, you’re ready to start mixing Tweets into your blog. That’s convergence for microblogging.
