Horse lovers in Converged Communications, take note: There’s a dream story coming up in tomorrow’s (Monday) Times-Union. I had the opportunity last week to travel to Green Cove Springs for a western dressage event, learning more about the unique aspects of this relatively new sport. From breeds of horses to judging criteria to the experience that makes western dressage rewarding for horse and rider, you’ll find it all in tomorrow’s article.
There’s not much converged communication involved in the connection between riders and their horses, but the article does illustrate how quality photos (in this case, from longtime T-U photographer Bob Self) can complement the written word. And you’ll also learn about how newcomers to western dressage use online videos from YouTube and similar sources to refine their own technique. An online version of the story is already up (http://members.jacksonville.com/sports/outdoorsoutside/2014-02-22/story/outside-style-and-intricacies-western-dressage-are-catching), and the full version will be printed in the Outside section on Monday, Feb. 24. It’s worth taking a look.
