Here’s the news that all converged communicators (or at least some converged communicators) have been waiting for. The 2016 USA Curling National Championships will be coming to Jacksonville, marking the debut of everyone’s favorite broom-and-stone winter sport in the city.
It’s an unusual move, because Jacksonville has little – make that no – natural ice at last check. There also isn’t much of a curling tradition in town. But it’s another step forward as the city works to build its presence as an event host in the sports world. Other events on tap include early rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament next year and June’s international soccer match between the United States and Nigeria.
