Yes, the Fall 2014 semester has finally concluded. It’s left memories of stimulating classroom discussion, new skills, study time, frantic scrambling to finish projects before those looming deadlines, and plenty of plain old fun. And now, as it comes time to check those entries in the grade book one last time, another message comes through: It’s over. So Converged Communications students can relax, take a breath, and pause for a little while before the next flurry of activity. Christmas comes next week, after all.
Converged communications won’t sit on the sidelines completely, though. Whether you realize it or not, you’re likely putting the knowledge gained in the #concomms world to use many times a day. You might be volunteering at a local charity after reading well-designed materials explaining its mission, deciding which news outlets to rely on for coverage of world news, or simply connecting with a distant loved one through phone, text, e-mail, or social media. The communications universe just doesn’t go away.
Looking ahead to next spring, something to keep in mind: The Spring 2015 semester at FSCJ starts on January 7, a Wednesday. So many students will find the first week’s schedule a little different. It also means there’s less time to gather books and materials before the start of the term, so it’s a good idea to start planning now.
Happy holiday wishes to all converged communicators. January will be here before long!
