It’s baaaaack: Bad Ad rides again

You're right: The "your" is wrong.

You’re right: The “your” is wrong.

Before finishing a document that’s intended for publication, especially a publication that will go on the back cover of a city-wide coupon insert for thousands to see, it’s a good idea to check on five key parts of quality English: spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and usage. Bailey’s Health & Fitness didn’t do that when submitting its final copy for the Jacksonville-area Mint magazine. The result? Yep, it’s a Bad Ad. “You never know what your capable of, until you try!” might sound like an inspiring slogan, but look again. Your eyes aren’t deceiving you – that’s a your where a you’re should be. By taking just an extra moment to double-check the text, the advertiser could have avoided this mistake – and avoided becoming a citation on this blog as the latest Bad Ad.
